The Next to Last Word - Haggai

Haggai, an often ignored Minor Prophet, delivered the next to last word to God's people. That is, this prophet pointed Israel to Christ, the supreme and final Word, and warned them against rejecting Him, underscoring the truth that studying this portion of Scripture is profitable. Michael Barrett helps us discern the relevance of this prophet for today.
Haggai delivers four sermons. The first sermon rebukes Israel's lackadaisical response regarding the Temple work. The second sermon gives reassurance regarding the Temple Work. The third Haggai gives incentives for their obedience to that work And finally, Haggai gives an assurance of a certain future. The overall theme is to put God first.
